Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working days. Some overtime will be available.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Gas Fitter Trade Certification, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, Provincial Gas Fitter Licence, Driver’s License.

Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Commercial, Industrial, Residential

Area of Specialization: Gas leak detection, Connections of piping, ranges, dryers, barbecues and other appliances, Connections of furnaces, boilers, space heaters and forced air heaters, Installation and service of propane vaporizers, metering, dispensing and pumping equipment

Specific Skills: Determine layout of systems, Measure and mark reference points for installation, Install and maintain meters and regulators, Maintain and service heating units and components, Repair and service gas appliances, Assist in gas fires and explosion investigations, Install gas appliances, Start-up and adjust new or repaired equipment, Test and replace defective equipment or components

Specialty Skills: Convert motor vehicles or appliances to use other fuels (e.g. propane or natural gas), Install and service propane and natural gas filling stations

Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications

Security and Safety: Bondable, Driver’s validity license check

Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Safety equipment/gear, Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses/goggles
